Punxsutawney Area Hospital Breaks Ground on Expansion
With $21.5M in funding secured Punxsutawney Area Hospital expanded facility in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania is now underway. The project, which will be completed over four phases, will take slightly over two years to complete and result in the construction of a 14,000 square foot addition and 13,500 square feet of extensive renovation along the south side of the hospital providing the community greater access to quality care.
The ceremony was attended by hospital officials as well as county commissioners, State Representative Brian Smith, Senator Joseph Pittman as well as Representative Glenn Thompson, as well as USDA Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres Small.
Slated for completion in 2028 the expanded and updated facility will include a new Emergency Department creating a total of 11 treatment spaces, and Outpatient Service Entrance, Laboratory and Phlebotomy Services, a Woman’s Health Center, and Imaging Center specializing in the following services: x-ray, new state-of-the-art MRI machine, bone densitometry, ultrasound, nuclear medicine and computerized tomography (CT).
